Villa Flaiani and the Library of Alba Adriatica

Villa Flaiani is definitely worth a visit.

It is a historic villa built in the 1920s to be the summer residence of the prestigious lineage of the Marquis Flaiani, one of the families of the high nobility who lived in the town of Tortoreto Stazione, before it became Alba Adriatica.

It is surrounded by a well-kept park, ideal if you want to relax in nature, while the ground floor of the villa is now home to a municipal library, which boasts a collection of around 9,000 books and hosts numerous recreational activities and cultural, entertainment and musical events.

The library was opened to the public in June 2004; it is a general library, mainly oriented towards the humanities, and includes encyclopaedic works and many monographs, a children’s and youth section and a multimedia area with 6 internet stations.

But this is also the place where you can attend many engaging events, such as literary reviews featuring the most important writers on the national scene or the ‘major events’ promoted by the Ministry of Cultural Heritage and Activities, by the Centre for Books and Reading with ‘Il Maggio dei Libri’ and by UNESCO. Not forgetting the activities aimed at children and adolescents, with animated readings with professional actors, play and educational workshops.
