Wherever you are on the Teramo coast, dedicate an evening, from <\/span>sunset<\/b>, to <\/span>Silvi Alta<\/b><\/a>, also known as Silvi Paese or Belvedere di Silvi… Whatever you call it, the beauty of its view is assured.<\/span><\/p>\n

Admire the charming village of Castrum Silvi already from the shoreline: it appears from a promontory overlooking the sea, which gave safety to those fishermen who founded it in the Middle Ages, leaving the marina, prey to Saracen attacks.<\/span><\/p>\n

Venture up the hill that leads to the village while behind you the sea recedes and the sky slowly fades. You don’t need the address to find the walkway to infinity: just walk along the main street and at the end, at the easternmost point of the village, where the Southern Circular Street meets the Boreal Street, you will discover the <\/span>Belvedere<\/b>, one of the most evocative in the region.<\/span><\/p>\n

This one, like the entire historic centre, is supported by a <\/span>wall with large arches<\/b>, built after the earthquake in the early 1930s. The construction work brought to light smaller arches, of medieval origin, erected to protect the village from possible attacks.<\/span><\/p>\n

You will feel as if you are on top of a mountain, yet it is \u2018only\u2019 242 metres above sea level.<\/span><\/p>\n

Here is the water, tinged with pink and silver and, to the west, the outline of the Gran Sasso Mountain, which dams everything up like a monumental dike. Other forms in front of you reveal their outline: these are the Tremiti islands and the Gargano promontory. Before the shadows envelop the panorama, look to the left: you might spot Ancona, its stretch of coastline and Monte Conero.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Sit on one of the benches in the pretty little square, known as the Loggia, and enjoy such beauty as the night covers the Adriatic Sea and little lights of life glow in the distance like fireflies.<\/span><\/p>\n
